Sword
The sword was a weapon that was commonly used throughout the Trojan War. The early swords of the Bronze age are some of the most striking artifacts in terms of craftsmanship. Before bronze, stone was the main material for cutting edged tools and weapons, however stone was very fragile and was not a very practical element for swords, so they used daggers. Later copper was introduced and the daggers were made longer and changed into swords. The average sword back then was about 2 feet. The early types of long swords (rapiers) were in use from the early Achaean times. The Achaeans would have used such rapiers for both cut and thrust fighting.
Many swords had inscriptions and pictures on them. The inscriptions can show what year the sword could date back to. The swords were usually double sided and were mainly used for slashing and stabbling. Swords were mainly a secondary weapon and Spears were the primary weapon. If the spear was thrown or broke then the sword would be used.
